Enterococci are enumerated to determine the pollution content of marine (salt) water
just as E. coli is used for fresh water (lakes, ponds, rivers) to determine if water

Pseudomonas is ubiquitous in water, soil, plants and can cause swimmer's dermatitis
as well as respiratory infections, urinary tract infections ($65 per sample).
Giardia is a parasite causing extreme gastrointestinal infections contracted by drinking

Algae grows in any water with sunlight. Common in ponds. Many cause complete coverage

Heavy metals - arsenic, barium, cadmium, chromium, lead, mercury, selenium, silver,
uranium and other metals cost $25-55 each.
